Rag-&-Bone Shop books comprises my handbound artist’s books, book necklaces, drypoints, etchings and cards. My imagery often arises from digital photographs, which I work into with etching, linocut, drawing, letterpress, typewriter, rubber stamps and embroidery. I’m interested in the opportunities the physical properties of the book afford to further narrative themes. Hence I often employ non-traditional materials, such as baking paper in 'Leaf Watermarks': its translucence and featherweight texture conveys the book’s theme of impermanence in a tactile way. My work is held in private and public collections and features in publications including 'Typewriter Art', ed. B. Tullett (Laurence King, 2014).
I would be exhibiting a range of my handbound books (including those books pictured), a small collection of miniature, handbound book jewellery, recent etchings, drypoints, hand engravings, giclée prints and cards. As I typically bind one original artist’s book, which I then reproduce as a limited edition, some of the books will be my originals and these wouldn’t be for sale, but can be handled and are available to commission.
